Robotics workshops at Dwór Bartnika

Robotics workshops for kids in Białowieża Forest – Robo Liga

An hour and a half after which a child knows what a robot is made of, can drive it, has scored a goal with it and has designed something of their own for 3D printing. We work in teams at one table, and instead of a tablet every child holds a remote. Run by a mechatronics engineer and a qualified youth camp leader. All hobby-level and made for kids: no grades, but trophies.

How the workshop works

  1. 1

    Building

Each team gets a body with motors already fitted and step-by-step instructions. Kids attach the tracks, shovel and housing.

  2. 2

    CAD and 3D printing

In a simple modelling program kids design their own part: a team badge or a cover for the robot. Then they watch the 3D printer build it layer by layer and take the finished print home.

  3. 3

    Driving

Two sticks like a tank: the left one drives the left track, the right one the right track. A button switches the lights, a slider moves the shovel that shoots and lifts the ball.

  4. 4

    Slalom with parking

A timed run between cones and parking in a garage. A knocked-over cone is a penalty.

  5. 5

    Penalties

Every driver gets shots on goal, and the points count towards the team ranking.

  6. 6

    Match

Ten minutes or first to three goals. Teams that are not playing act as referees.

  7. 7

    Podium

Results on the screen, 3D-printed trophies and a group photo with the robots.

  • Robot parts close up: tracks, wheels and motors
  • A robot with a shovel and a ball on the green pitch
  • Pitch on a pool table with a goal and cones
  • First drive with the finished robot

Who it is for

Ages 4–6

Ready robots and a simple cone course. No small parts, with help from the host.

Ages 7–10

Building with help, driving, slalom and parking, a simple CAD design. Teams mix younger and older kids.

Ages 11–14 and older

Building on their own from instructions, their own CAD model for 3D printing and the full tournament: slalom, penalties and a match.

Who runs it

Mechatronics engineer

Prepares the robots, props and course, runs the CAD and 3D printing corner, looks after the tech and explains how a motor, servo and remote work.

Youth camp leader

An architect qualified to run children's camps. She splits the group, runs the session and makes sure every child gets their turn.

Safety and consent

  • Before the workshop a parent fills in a short participant card: age, phone, allergies.
  • A parent stays at the manor during the workshop and is reachable by phone.
  • Photo consent is voluntary and does not affect taking part.
  • Groups of up to 8 kids, small parts only for older children.

Questions from parents

Does my child need to know electronics?
No. We prepare the motors and electronics in advance, and the instructions are step by step, with pictures.
How long is a session?
About an hour and a half: building, a CAD design, learning to drive and the tournament. Shorter for the youngest, without building and CAD.
What does my child take home?
The part they designed in CAD and 3D printed, plus photos from the podium. The assembled robots with electronics stay with us after the tournament.
Are the workshops available outside the winter break?
Yes, for groups and hotel guests by prior arrangement. Please contact reception.
Can we come without staying at the hotel?
Yes, local kids can join subject to places: PLN 119 per child per session, booking by phone on +48 721 907 000. For winter break guests the workshops are included.
How many kids can take part at once?
Up to 8 kids per group. If more want to join, we run a second round.
What do parents do during the workshop?
